Good morning, friends, and welcome to a fresh week, all ready for you…
Today’s post is going to be different. I just returned from a retreat away at Holy Wisdom Monastery with my friend, Traci, and I’m letting the richness of that experience have more time to settle into the sediment, here. Truly a time for rest and discovery both. So today, we’ll be short and sweet with a poem I wrote and a collection of some little art pieces I made. Also, a couple quick recommendations…💛
Substack doesn’t allow for fun formatting, so I had to take a photo of my poem to get those line breaks right...
I’ll be back next week with more typical post. In the meantime, a few recommendations as we enter Black History Month:
If you’re local to northern Chicago ~ Come take part in a four-week discussion course called “Exploring Whiteness” at our church, First Presbyterian of Wilmette. We’ll examine white identity, white privilege, white fragility and white supremacy — an important step toward dismantling racial inequities. Learn more here.
For everyone ~ 28 Days of Black History —I really appreciated these emails last year and this year both. A short newsletter each day focused on an untold or underappreciated story of an inspiring Black figure, discussion questions, and action steps.
More next week, friends. In the meantime, praying a week of rest and discovery and learning for you….
Love and Light,
Arianne
